Dry Stone walling has to be the ultimate lesson in ‘Progress Principle’. Build with patience, select materials locally, choose the stone for how it will fit snugly with another. Let the stones lock into place with their combined weight.

Leave it for as long as you need it: 10 years, 100 years or 600+ years if necessary. When it needs adjusting, or moving, knock it down and start again.

With their strong foundations these dry stone walls are perfect examples of the wisdom of living in harmony with nature. Infinitely flexibility and in keeping with the land.
